Setting up HomeAway listings with MyVR

Managing HomeAway listings through MyVR is easy. Photos, rates, descriptions, etc. are synced with the HomeAway/VRBO listing, and reservations and inquiries are managed within the MyVR account.

It's important to note that the integration process is different depending on the type of connection. For 5 or more properties, please see the Property Manager section. For fewer than 5 properties, please see the Owners section.

Finally, if you're new to HomeAway, we encourage you to look at our Channel Cheat Sheet to understand how this channel functions compared to other channels you may be using on MyVR.

NOTE: It generally takes about 48 hours for the syncing to go live once users add an existing HomeAway listing to a MyVR account.

For Owners (fewer than 5 properties)

Step 1: Create the listing in MyVR

Create new listings in MyVR from the HomeAway for Owners app under the "Add Listing ()" tab.

This will create a listing with the status "NOT SETUP" and will need to be set up before it can sync to HomeAway.

Step 2: Prepare the listing in MyVR

At this step, users will be presented with a list of requirements for the listing to be published. Any requirements that have a red X are requirements that are not met by the content of the listing in MyVR and will likely prevent the listing from syncing properly. Users will need to update any missing or invalid content before syncing.

Users will also be presented with a calendar of events for the selected property. This is to ensure that when the listing is published, the availability is accurate to avoid any double bookings.

Once the calendar has been verified, users will be asked if there is already an existing listing at HomeAway for this property and if so, what the Listing ID is on HomeAway for that listing. If there is an existing subscription listing that has time left on the subscription, we might be able to apply that time towards the new subscription.

If the calendar is verified to be correct, check the "I've verified all reservation data is on my calendar" and click "Start Integration" or "Purchase Listing". This will transition the listing from the status of "NOT SETUP" to the "PENDING" status.

Now the listing is ready to be fetched by HomeAway. HomeAway only fetches property data once nightly. After the listing is on HomeAway, MyVR support staff will set up the subscription in HomeAway and activate the listing.

After 24 more hours, the listing should become live on HomeAway. The listing will stay in the "PENDING" state on MyVR until we receive a quote request (which provides the external URL of the new listing) and after MyVR successfully verifies that the listing is live on HomeAway. As soon as we have the URL of the new listing and successfully verify the listing is live, the listing status will transition from "PENDING" to "ACTIVE" and will show as "ONLINE."

Step 3: Transfer reviews

If an old listing has existing reviews, users can request a review transfer. This is done by sending an email to pm-support@homeaway.com with the following request:

Subject: Review Transfer Request

CC: support@myvr.com

Body: Please transfer reviews from old listing with ID (old ID) to new listing with URL (new URL found in MyVR)

Note: In order to transfer the reviews, HomeAway does require the listing the reviews are being transferred from be hidden. Once the listing is hidden and no longer searchable on the HomeAway platform, they can transfer the reviews.

Property Managers (5 or more properties)

Step 1: Create the listing in MyVR

Users can create new listings in MyVR from the HomeAway for PM's app under the "Add Listing ()" tab.

This will create a listing in the "NOT SETUP" state and will need to be set up before it can sync to HomeAway.

Once the calendar has been verified, check the "I've verified all reservation data is on my calendar" and click "Start Integration." This will transition the listing from the "NOT SETUP" state to the "PENDING" state.

At this point, the listing is ready to be fetched by HomeAway. HomeAway only fetches property data once nightly. If the listing content is all valid and up to date, it could take about 24 hours for the listing to appear within the user's HomeAway dashboard.

Step 3: Choose listing product type on HomeAway

After the listing has been prepared and HomeAway has fetched the property data (up to 24 hours after "Start Integration"), the listing will be ready in the HomeAway dashboard for a Product Type selection.

Depending on the existing billing relationship with HomeAway, this is either Subscription or Pay-Per-Booking. When users view the properties in their HomeAway dashboard, they'll see an "Unassigned Listings" tab with links to "Switch to Subscription" or "Switch to PPB" like in this example:

Click on the link to set up payment for the listing.

After 24 more hours, the listing should become live on HomeAway. The listing will stay in the "PENDING" state on MyVR until we receive a quote request (which provides the external URL of the new listing) and after MyVR successfully verifies that the listing is live on HomeAway. As soon as we have the URL of the new listing and successfully verify the listing is live, the listing state will transition from "PENDING" to "ACTIVE" and will show as "ONLINE."

active.png

Note: The listing shows "Incomplete" on HomeAway at this point. Even after switching to Subscription, the listing might show "Incomplete" for another 24 hours while HomeAway confirms all content. If the listing appears in the "Incomplete" tab after 24 hours, check the reasons for incompleteness to see if there is any data that is missing.
