Based on the channel, payments can show differently in MyVR. Owners can see different payment methods on a reservation if it was processed by Stripe (merchant account) versus being processed by a channel that handles their own payments.
Payments processed by Stripe:
MyVR will track charges and record payments processed by Stripe. These payments can be seen in the “Payments” tab of a reservation. Payments processed by Stripe will show the credit card on file in the "Payments" tab. These payments can be charged, refunded, updated, and canceled in MyVR.
Channels that use Stripe to process payments:
- MyVR Website
- MyVR Booking page
- Booking.com —Based on account settings, payments can either be processed by Stripe or by booking.com.
Stripe charges a fee for processing credit cards. This fee can be seen under the "Finances" tab on the reservation. Learn more about these fees here: https://help.myvr.com/hc/en-us/articles/202846415.
Payments processed by channel:
There are many channels who process their own payments instead of using your merchant account. Since the channel manages their own payments, all payments settings need to be made within the channel's website. MyVR will mark payments from these channels as “Other” in the “Payments” tab on a reservation.
Channels that process their own payments:
- Booking.com - Based on account settings, payments can either be processed by Stripe or by booking.com.
MyVR cannot offer support for any charges created outside the MyVR system, as we won't see them. If payments from these channels need to be charged, updated or refunded, apply these changes in the channel. Additionally, for issues with payments, please contact the channel.
All integrated channels and apps, connect to the booking policy set in MyVR. This sets the refund and cancellation policy per channel. To learn more about booking policy settings, please review, managing booking policies.
